Handbook formula

Learning Curve

Each doubling of cumulative units multiplies unit time by r (e.g. 90% curve: r=0.9). Use for repetitive formwork, pile driving, precast cycles. Total time is the sum, or integrate for large n.

Step-by-step solved example

T1=10 h, 90% curve. Time of the 8th unit? (8=2³)

1234TF = LS − ES
Repetitive cycles on the network get faster: Tn = T1 n^b.
  1. 1. b

    log0.9/log2= −0.1522.

  2. 2. T8

    Three doublings: 10×0.9³=7.29 h.

Answer: T8 = 7.29 h
